We ❤ Waitrose

25thMay at 1.45pm
Hitchin Waitrose, Bedford Rd (Map)

Occupy the Oil Aisle moves (slightly) North to the town of Hitchin in Hertfordshire. As far as a supermarket can be, Waitrose is at the ethical vanguard. From serious emissions targets to fairtrade and local products, right through to its model of worker co-ownership and shared profits, it is clear shopping at Waitrose is one way to love the planet.

But one thing about Waitrose is breaking our hearts. It’s struck up a new partnership with Shell – the oil company responsible for human rights abuses and massive oil spills in the Niger Delta and skyrocketing carbon emissions (they’ve pulled every single investment in sustainable renewable energy sources).

Please let Waitrose know that nothing says I love you less than Shell. Join our intervention, asking them to end this bad romance, as we hold a sit-in in the oil aisle on the 25th May. You can tweet @Waitrose and post on their facebook wall too.

Every Wednesday, 8.00-8.30am
Westminster Tube

Every Wednesday a group of sashed up Climate Suffragettes greet MPs on their way into Parliament, asking that they discuss climate change in Prime Minister’s Questions that day.

We would love you to get involved, reminding our leaders each and every week that climate change is a pressing issue and it is their responsibility to act. We speak to the MPs about all kinds of current issues which will affect our carbon emissions and climate responsbility – from fracking to a green investment bank.

Spend half an hour a week ensuring that our elected leaders hear the call for climate action.

Meet at the top of the steps at the main Westminster tube exit at 8.00am sharp.
